Swedish Chocolate Balls

Updated: Jan 21, 2021

If you are looking for an easy and quick, no bake treat this is definitely what you are looking for. A super classic of Swedish baking, which is an absolute favorite in my house both between kids and grown ups!

As if that was not good enough, this recipe is also a super hit to bake with kids, and extremely easy to bake gluten free and milk free if you need to. Simply switch the rolled oats for gluten free oats and the butter with milk free butter to get a version that is for everyone.

100 gr butter, room temperature

100 gr caster sugar (1 dl)

150 gr rolled oats (3 dl)

1 tsp vanilla sugar (or 1 tsp vanilla extract)

40 gr unsweetened cocoa powder (3 tbsp)

1,5 tbsp cold strong coffee

Coconut flakes or sprinkles for finish

Put all ingredients (except coconut flakes or sprinkles) in a large bowl. Using your hands, mix all ingredients until thoroughly blended. Cover with plastic wrap and let it set in the fridge for 30 minutes.

Pinch off small amounts of dough and roll between your hands to make small balls, about 2-3 cm in diameter. Roll the balls in the coconut flakes or sprinkles and refrigerated for a couple of hours to become firmer. Store in the fridge for up to a week.
